
A man was arrested after the fatal stabbing of a man within Kilkenny City on Tuesday, afternoon. The incident took place in the area of Hebron Road in Kilkenny city shortly before lunchtime.
The man who died aged in the 40s was taken care of on the spot by paramedics, before being taken into St Luke’s General Hospital, attempts in saving his life weren’t success.
Gardai have detained one man, in his 20s. The police confirmed that they are investigating “all the facts of the fatal assault” incident, which took place at 12.45pm on the street in front of the property.
The man who was arrested was held by the Kilkenny Garda station under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, which permits the detention of up to 24hrs without cost.
The site of the attack was sealed off and was under an exam by personnel from the Garda Technical Bureau. In a short statement about this incident, on the evening of Tuesday Garda Headquartersin Phoenix Park, Dublin reported that they had been notified by the State Pathologist’s Office had been notified and a postmortem of the body of the victim was scheduled to be conducted.
“Gardai in Kilkenny appeal anyone who might have information regarding the incident to get in touch with them,” it said.
Anyone who was on Hebron Road from 12.30pm until 1pm on Tuesday afternoon, and especially motorists who have footage from their dashcams was advised to call Gardai in Kilkenny at (056) 77775000.
